WELCOME TO THE VIRTUAL OPEN EVENT AT BEARSTED PRIMARY ACADEMY

Welcome from the Principal

Welcome to our online Open Event for Bearsted Primary Academy. We wish we could welcome you in person but due to our commitment to the health and safety of staff and students and the social distancing measures which are in place, we have created a Virtual Open Event this year so you can explore our academy and meet some of our staff, whilst learning about our brand new school.

Please take the time to explore our website which we hope will provide you with all the necessary information regarding our school. If you wish to know more and are interested in your child joining us at Bearsted Primary Academy, please get in touch with us at info@bearstedprimaryacademy.org.uk.

ADDITIONAL Information and FAQs

Yes. When designing our school we planned to provide care for children between the ages of 3-5 years within our nursery- Little Bears. This opened in January 2021 and will be run during term time only, between the hours of 7:30am-6pm. If you would like further information about Little Bears Nursery please take a look at our Nursery page, where you can also fill out an application form to secure your child’s place.

Yes! We currently provide a successful and popular wrap around care service to all families. This includes Breakfast Club which starts at 7:30am each day and where children can have breakfast with their friends and play games. From 3:00pm until 6:00pm we run our After School Club where the children can join in a range of activities and games and where afternoon tea is provided at 4:30pm. Both sessions are £3 per hour and there is no additional cost for lunch or tea.

The school gates and class doors open at 8:30am, with our Principal standing on the gate to welcome families each morning and class teachers at class doors to greet their pupils. Registration is at 8:40am. The school day ends at 3pm. After school there are a number of clubs, led by our teaching staff, available to children which run from 3:05pm-4:05pm. These are on hold at the moment due to the current situation but we hope to run clubs from February half term.

We are very fortunate to have a large car park for visitors as well as drop off bays to make drop off and pick up easy for our families. We welcome parents onto the site at 8:25am and 2:55pm.

Yes! Being a new build we are able to ensure that the safety of our pupils is of a high level. Every part of the school’s design has been carefully considered so that our children feel happy, safe and secure. Not only do we have a 2-metre perimeter fence, CCTV cameras and automated gates, our school has its own natural barrier which means any visitors who come through our external gates only have one point of entry which is through our reception and will need to be ‘buzzed in’ in order to enter the school.

Yes! Each class has its own Learning Support Assistant (LSA) who works closely alongside the class teacher to support our children with their learning.

Like all schools, we are working hard to ensure that all government guidelines are being followed and that we are being proactive in our approach to minimise possible spread of Covid-19 within our community. As a trust, we have a central team who are dedicated to overseeing and ensuring all the necessary PPE and other safety items are in school and that all staff are aware and updated with the latest guidance. Here at Bearsted Primary Academy, we have many measures in place such as a full time janitor cleaning throughout the day to ensure all touch points are regularly cleaned, one way systems are in place, staff and visitors are expected to wear face masks and visors both inside and outside, and there are hand sanitizer points throughout the building. Children are expected to and are encouraged to wash their hands at multiple points throughout the day, whilst educating them on the importance of good hygiene in order to keep everyone safe.
