To help support our families in making a decision about their child joining us at Bearsted Primary Academy, we have decided to answer a few frequently asked questions below. We hope they provide a clearer understanding and give families a better knowledge of our school, addressing any worries or concerns you may have.

If you have any further questions which are not answered in the responses below, feel free to contact us at info@bearstedprimaryacademy.org.uk.

How many classes will you be starting with and how many children will be in each class?

We will be opening in September with two Reception classes of up to 30 children in each. With most new schools, the plan is to open a year group at a time, allowing for the school to gradually grow each year. Once our school has children in Reception up to Year 6 we will have a total of 420 pupils.

Is it true that you have a nursery and from what age can my child join?

Yes. When designing our school we planned to provide care for children between the ages of 3-5 years within our nursery- Little Bears. This will be opening in January 2021 and will be run during term time only, between the hours of 7:30am-6pm. If you would like further information about Little Bears Nursery please visit our website where you can also fill out an application form to secure your child’s place.

Will there be any form of wrap around care available?

Yes! Once we are in our new building we will be able to provide wrap around care to all families. This will include a breakfast club starting at 7:30am and after school care running from 3pm-6pm, led by Bearsted staff. However, whilst at Langley Park Primary Academy we will only be able to provide a breakfast club.

When does the school day start and end and will there be any clubs which my child can attend?

The school gates and class doors will open at 8:30am, with our Principal standing on the gate to welcome families each morning and class teachers at class doors to greet their pupils. Registration is at 8:40am. The school day will end at 3pm. After school there will be a number of clubs, led by our teaching staff, available to children which run from 3:05pm-4:05pm.

Will my child be safe when attending Bearsted Primary Academy?

Yes! Being a new build we are able to ensure that the safety of our children is of a high level. Every part of the school’s design has been carefully considered so that our children feel happy, safe and secure. Not only do we have a 2 metre perimeter fence, CCTV cameras and automated gates, our school has it’s own natural barrier which means any visitors who come through our external gates only have one point of entry which is through our reception and will need to be buzzed in.

Will each class have a teaching assistant?

Yes! Each class will have it’s own Learning Support Assistant (LSA) who will work closely alongside the class teacher to support our children with their learning.
