Not only was it a glorious sunny day but a momentous and exciting one, celebrating the start of building our brand new primary school in Bearsted. A number of the executive team from Leigh Academies Trust- Simon Beamish, Neil Willis and Debbie Biggenden to name but a few, alongside representatives of the DfE and myself- met with Ben Fleming, project manager of the site, and those working alongside him from Bowmer and Kirkland on 23rd July 2019.

It was a fantastic opportunity to see the site in all its glory and gain a better understanding of how the school will look and develop in the forthcoming months, seeing our vision become reality. The archaeologists’ investigations have been completed and now the groundwork for the two schools sharing the site will begin.

The site itself offers a fantastic learning environment where children will have the opportunity to explore, be creative and fully engage with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) taught at Bearsted Primary Academy.  This is due to the abundance of space and learning opportunities the grounds provides. The architects and project team have worked tirelessly to ensure that every aspect of the school’s design benefits the children of Bearsted and its neighbouring areas, who it cares and provides for, enhancing their learning experience making sure every moment counts within the rich environment it delivers.  From the ‘forest school’ inspired natural play areas to the interactive and engaging library which will lead out to the amphitheatre, it is a great place for children to take their learning outside and connect with their surroundings.

Bearsted Primary Academy’s vision is one of boundless ambition and will be a place where every moment counts, allowing all children an opportunity to shine and reach their full potential in a nurturing and inspiring environment, embracing the world around them and preparing them for the diverse and ever changing society we now live in. Our vision is to create a school community which is vibrant and pioneering, loving and caring, making our children’s primary school experience unforgettable and inspirational.

As the newly appointed Principal (Designate) of Bearsted Primary Academy, I am excited to see how the school build develops over the next couple of months, providing a new and inspiring primary school.
